It's just a positive social convention here in the US. During the midst of the pandemic last year, there was a larger reasoning to tip for carryout. In normal times though, just think of it as social convention.

Makes me sick knowing that even at my absolute lowest point this year had I sold everything and went all in on Jan SPY calls I'd not only recover my losses but also be up so much more than I was at my highest point this year.

But at this point I'm too scared to do that because it's run up so much the instant I bought calls the whole thing would crash.

Guess this is why they all say it's tough to beat the market.

Yeah, this market has been crazy. Luckily I bought a few leaps while spy was recently in the 450-460 range and they're all up nicely.

It was a good read. Just kind of learning about the life of these separate groups of people, somehow connected, living life in this new world. You get parts about their life pre pandemic as well. Nothing too heavily plot driven, just slice of life kinda.

Reinforced that we won't be going back to 2020 lockdown type environment. Schools will be left open. And that this is due to people being vaccinated. That being vaccinated will keep you safe from dying and using hospital resources. Just a big emphasis in general on vaccination to get through this wave and that more people need to go and get vaccinated.

It's usually a pretty high bar to hit and most companies will probably have a way
of showing some other non discriminatory reason for the firing.

While this is true, there are also plenty of things that are clearly popular with voters on both sides (federal legalization of marijuana being a primary example) that Democrats haven't been willing to tackle with anywhere near the effort they should.

Plus, it's just going to have to be a slow, gradual process. We can't expect to convert to Social Democracy overnight, but even putting in an effort to dispel a lot of the misinformation going on around things like universal healthcare or workers' rights would bring these ideas into the mainstream.

I think the first thing they need to do is remove the filibuster. But if they do do, they need to make sure they fucking win congress. Needing 67 voted to pass anything of worth is just to high a hurdle.

Gonna preface this with, I absolutely agree that dems are not doing enough when in power... but I think some of you are a bit too optimistic in regards to what will actually draw in votes when it comes to elections and how actually popular some ideas are in the public.

Maybe I'm just too pessimistic
